Please give us a short summary of your website?

It is an affiliate website selling a wide variety of items for infants and toddlers.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I like the idea of being self employed and was also hoping to supplement my income to allow for a comfortable retirement. I have always been interested in computers and the internet and it seemed like the natural thing to do.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I first launched Best Baby Things Online in late July

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I tried several names when trying to purchase a domain and ended up selecting one of the available alternatives provided by GoDaddy.com

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

That is a tough question as I am still fine tuning it.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I plan to keep the site and hopefully it will supplement my retirement.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far it is way out of balance. I have, and continue to put a great deal of time into the site. I have not yet begun to realize any profit.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would not have an affiliate site. I would find a reliable wholesaler or drop shipper. I would also hire professional web developers and SEO help.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, that is the one big advantage of the affiliate site

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

This site has not been to costly. However, I previously had a site through a drop ship company that was initially expensive. The PPC costs were unbelieveable and the return was minimal. I decided to go a different route this time.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Learning a lot of new things. HTML, writing and submitting articles to get links, starting a BLOG, etc

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

To early to tell. I hope this will be.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Yes, it is much more time consuming that I imagined. Generating traffic is very time consuming.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site is about one month old and play to keep it up indefinitely. If it is successful I will continue to devote a lot of time if necessary.
