Getting Better and Best Deals through Craig's ListBy Brian White at 06/11/07 20:07
If you live in a city of decent size, the local section of Craig's List has a good forum for everything from dating to parenting discussions, and though I can't swear that there are great bargains to be had on those things, I can say there's some cut rate chairs and couches. - Find out what the real price is before you contact anybody, and don't pay too much.
- Thrift stores have about the same price, but a better selection and no pressure.
- Make sure you get quality pictures in advance. No pictures, don't bother.
- Ask what's wrong with it, and why they're getting rid of it.
- Ask if they'll deliver it, but see it at their place first. If they drive it over and you don't like it, you won't make any friends by saying no.
- Don't pay until you have it. Don't send a check or PayPal in advance, ever.
