What inspired you to launch your own website?
Me, my wife and her sister had the desire to create our own jewelry and sell it at affordable price to everyone, hence we named our website "www.FashionJewelryForEveryone.com"
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Website was launched with photos on http://photos.yahoo.com/fashionjewelryforeveryone then we moved to geocities and now we have a full fledged website with 100% secured paypal shopping cart on http://www.fashionjewelryforeveryone.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Me, my wife and her sister had the desire to create our own jewelry and sell it at affordable price to everyone, hence we named our website "www.FashionJewelryForEveryone.com"
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We give the best customer service possible and work with all clients with small or big budget, we work on the jewelry as we have passion for it and would want our handcrafted and assorted jewelry worn by all
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep doing work as we are passionate about our work and jewelry.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My wife works fulltime on this and at times wakes up in the middle of the night to respond to clients email and add new items to our collection of jewelry and her sister who is in Thailand works on creating new style almost daily.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
First we would have a better shopping cart as currently we have only paypal. We would hire more employees to take photos of our jewelry in a more professional way compared to how they currently are and add more items to give more visibility of the latest trends in this dynamic market.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, my wife's sister has already hired 2 fulltime employees to keep up the demand for our custom jewelry by Brides for their wedding jewelry and for their bridal party jewelry. With more demand we will hire more employees not only in Thailand but also in USA to keep the website growing big and bigger.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Headaches are at times we dont find Swarovski Crystals / Pearls in colors we need. Especially we have problems with Faux / Synthetic Pearls which are available in different color / shapes and suddenly are not available in the market.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Compete with big clients with deep pockets to advertise, so we are winning clients by the word of mouth and good customer service
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Google, Craigslist.org and any website / directory. Now because of the Social Sites it has helped.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
We started small with photos.yahoo.com then geocities, recently we had to upgrade our service at yahoo, because we were almost 100% disk space capacity, which we never thought we would ever use. I am afraid soon we will have to add more disk space.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
2 yrs in the works and as mentioned we are passionate about it and will do this and more features to the website as we move forward.
