A Touch of Purple Fresh Flowers & Gift Baskets Interview

By Interviewer at 04/20/08 06:05
Name of your website?

A Touch of Purple Fresh Flowers & Gift Baskets

Your name?

Sharon

Your Location (city, etc)

Adelaide, Parafield Gardens

Online Store for Fresh Flowers & Gift Baskets

Online Store for promoting our unique, stylish and affordable fresh flower arrangements and gift baskets. With the convenient facility of secure online ordering.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Passion for flowers and sharing my passion with the world. The opportunity for a wider audience to reach a broader customer base.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Over 3 & 1/2 yrs ago A Touch of Purple was just a website not an online store however with its popularity it has evolved 2 times since it's original format.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Family we all sat down and realised we loved the colour purple.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We are not a networking florist, there is no middle man. We make everything on our premises and put just that something extra into everything we make. Be it with a touch of special ribbon, glitter, accessories. The "Special" touch to make it more than just a flower arrangement, more than just a basket.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to grow our customer base, employ more people who have the same enthusiasm as we do for being perfectionists in every aspect of the business.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It works well for us at the moment. We are happy with our progress based on the positive feedback we get from our happy customers.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

A Touch of Purple website would remain comitted to providing excellent fresh flowers and gift baskets. Our website would continue to offer our customers stylish and affordable flowers. We would hope to grow with staff and perhaps offer a wider delivery range for our customers

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

A TOuch of Purple would welcome the opportunity to be popular and competitive but still offer that personal "special" touch. To do that if our business took off we would have to employ more staff who share the same passion and perfectionist qualities that we place on ourselves to ensure customers talk about our products for a long time to come.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Keeping up with the bigger companies with regards to advertising. Any smaller business will always tell you its a never ending task to keep on top of advertising when your compete with those bigger companies who have been around a lot longer and have a much bigger budget to play with.

What has been your biggest challenge?

As previously mentioned, advertising and getting our name out there is our biggest challenge.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Advertising can take many forms but the biggest success for Promoting A Touch of Purple has been word of mouth for us.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

There is a lot of hard work keeping A Touch of Purple up to date and fresh and exciting and in keeping with what our customers want. But at the same time it's just yet another exciting challenge for us and our expectations of running our website has far exceeded that of it's initial stages.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

As previously mentioned we have had a website for A Touch of Purple approx 3 & 1/2 yrs now and its transformed considerably since it first went online. We forsee it being a strong contender in the search results for a local Adelaide Florist in South Australia for many many years to come.

What is your website address?
