What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have always wanted to run my own business without all the high costs of shop rents and rates.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I purchased this online shop a year ago from my web developer who designed our websites for magnetic jewellery
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name was already in place when we bourght the website
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
we have a large selection of products and as we do not have expensive premises to pay for we are able to offer low prices
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our eventual goal is to run 3 or 4 successful websites from a remote beach somewhere in the world.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
There are a lot more hidden costs like search engines pay per click and it takes a long time to submit youe sites to as many directories as possible, but hopefully the rewards will eventually come
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If i had an unlimited budget i would exhibit at shows in increase awareness
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I am already running successful websites so hopefully this should not be a problem
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
google and yahoo pay per click what an expensive nightmare. Also tyring to get your site to the top of the search engines as you have to learn so much and it takes forever
What has been your biggest challenge?
the biggest challenge gas been to climb the search engine rankings
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
It is very difficult to know where your orders come from. We use pay per click and advertise in magazines and also go to a few exhibitions
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I am always working on my websites and work harder than i would in a regular job
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Ihave had this website for a year and i will keep it running indefinately or until someone makes me an offer i cant refuse
