Thousands of retailers expected to close down next year

Bad holiday sales coupled with more expensive operating costs can just put out thousands upon thousands of strip shop stores in 2009, according to industry adviser Excess Space Retail Services.

The adviser expects around 14,000 shops to close down the next year. That may well put a large impact on the American consumer's shopping ideology.
