What inspired you to launch your own website?
Interested in owning an online business and seeing how well I could make it be.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
1993 it was a snes Rom site. Was the best site I built recieved over 200 unique visitors a day
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted somthing unique that would be easy to brand in peoples minds.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Really good prices. I work with the distributors and I am really not making much of a profit off each sale so it should be one of the best priced sites around except those who buy directly from the manufactorer
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To make my site one of the top retail sites around and to have at least 1000 unique visitors a week. Hopefully generating sales with that many visitors.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
At the moment I am in debt for this website but I believe that it will turn out for the best in time.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If I had more of a budget I would hire an SEO firm or somthing like that and do more marketing outside of the web. Such as billboards and ads in newspapers and even on TV when my budget allows.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, my site will be easy to keep up with a growing demand because of my hosting service and my warehousing services I can grow easily, quickly, or slowly and still be able to keep up with all of the demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I have had to deal with getting my site branded on the net. I have had a bad time with yahoo advertising they don't want to seem to place my add even after I have loaded over $100 in my account. Also getting people to my site has just been hard. Whenever people do come though they like it.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The initial capital to make this business. It was a very large investment.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Google ad words has been the most helpful so far.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I had thought it would be easier to get traffic to my site? Am I doing somthing wrong lol?
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been running it since september of 2007 and will continue running it for at least 3 more years if it does not make a profit by that time I will dump it.
Do you have an affiliate program?
Yes I have an affiliate program that pays out 1-5% of each sell however it is difficult to get signed up for. I never understood those affiliate programs that are right in front of the customer? What keeps them from signing up just so they can buy from themselves?
